One of the most iconic hotels in Tampa Bay FL, the Vinoy Renaissance Resort and its Snell Isle golf club, have officially sold to a company run by the Tampa Bay Bucs’ co-owner, Bryan Glazer. The 362-room hotel, 74-slip marina, and 18-hole golf course are now owned and maintained by SCG Hospitality LLC.
The Tampa Bay Times reported that RLJ Lodging Trust released the final sales figure of $188.5 million for the historic Vinoy. Times Reporter, Susan Taylor Martin, further noted in her article, “The publicly traded trust, owned by BET founder Robert Johnson, had said it wanted to get out of the upscale resort business and concentrate on single-building, moderately price hotels like Embassy Suites.” This frees up the hotel to continue being a truly one-of-a-kind destination experience.
SCG Hospitality reported to the Tampa Bay Business Journal that they “will be looking toward thoughtful enhancements to improve the Vinoy and its amenities that will only serve to elevate the resort’s excellent reputation among its guests and local residents.” This all comes in advance of the Vinoy hotel’s 100th anniversary in 2025.
